As my seaplane glided over the turquoise lagoons, I couldn't believe my eyes. Soneva Jani's overwater villas, perched on stilts above the Indian Ocean, looked like something out of a postcard. Welcomed with a refreshing coconut drink and a smile, the journey had just begun.
The villa was an oasis of tranquility and elegance. With a private infinity pool, a slide leading directly into the crystal-clear waters, and an open-air bathroom, every corner exuded luxury. Waking up to the gentle sound of waves and being greeted by a breathtaking sunrise from the comfort of my bed was a surreal experience.
Leaving a piece of my heart at Soneva Jani, I hopped on a short seaplane ride to Soneva Fushi, the epitome of eco-luxury. As I strolled along the powdery white beaches and lush jungle pathways, I knew I was in for a treat. Soneva Fushi's "No News, No Shoes" philosophy immediately took effect. Days melted away as I indulged in barefoot luxury, lounging in my expansive villa surrounded by emerald foliage and the gentle symphony of birds.
Both resorts offered culinary experiences beyond my wildest dreams. At Soneva Jani, I relished the freshest seafood at The Crab Shack, toes buried in the sand, and the moonlight shimmering on the water.
At Soneva Fushi, my taste buds danced to the artistry of organic cuisine at Out of the Blue, where the talented chefs transformed local ingredients into culinary masterpieces.
Beyond the stunning landscapes and lavish amenities, Soneva Jani and Soneva Fushi offered something invaluable - the chance to reconnect with myself. From yoga sessions on the soft sands to soothing spa treatments amidst the treetops, each moment was a meditation in itself.

This Maldives extension was a follow on from from time in Singapore where I attended the ILTM event for Luxury Travel hoteliers, resorts and spas. The family came along and I am so glad they were able to experience the Maldives for their first. Definitely a trip to remember!
